Washing machine hoses are flexible and made of rubber and are designed to connect other elements to a washing machine. There are two of them for water. One is for taking water from the detergent drawer to the tub and the other is for draining water out of the tub and taking it to the drain pump.

If one of the hoses is cracked, broken or has holes in it, it will mean there is a leak in the circuit which may end up flooding or stopping your machine. A drain hose that is clogged up (by coins or hair) may cause  problems with draining.

There is also a special hose, the pressure switch hose that takes the air under pressure from the pressure chamber to the pressure switch to tell the machine that the maximum  water level has been reached. If this is worn out or clogged, it can result in a water level fault, a leak or even a problem spinning.
