My Senseo coffee maker is no longer flowing, how do I fix it?

The machine has limescale buildup
A scaled Senseo coffee machine presents several symptoms, including reduced water flow, an unusual noise, or less hot and less flavorful coffee. This is certainly a barrier to enjoying your morning coffee! The good news is that these signs are usually caused by limescale buildup in the circuits, and it is easily fixed. To remedy this quickly, simply descale your coffee machine and try again to see if the coffee is flowing properly.

The filter is clogged
Also related to mineral deposit buildup, the filter located after the water tank can become clogged and prevent water from circulating. To unclog it, simply take an old toothbrush and water mixed with 2 teaspoons of citric acid (lemon juice). Rub your filter to remove any bits of limescale responsible for the clog. Test your coffee machine after several rinses.
The pod holder is clogged
The pod holder can become blocked with coffee residues. To fix it, proceed as with the tank filter: use an old toothbrush soaked in a mixture of water and a little citric acid. Rub the residue to shift it, then rinse the holder thoroughly before trying again.
The water tank float is stuck
If the coffee stops flowing, it may be due to the water float being stuck to the bottom of the water tank. This means the machine thinks the tank is empty and the coffee won’t flow. To unblock it, empty the tank and shake it vigorously. If the float is not blocked but your machine still indicates a lack of water, it is probably due to a defective sensor. In this case, you will only need to replace it to fix the problem.

The coffee maker pump is defective
If the water pump no longer works, it may be due to a blockage or malfunction of the pump itself. Mineral deposits are often responsible for this kind of blockage. In this case, it will have to be replaced.
